The cloud is as relevant to the small as the large.
The means now exist to dynamically add significant capacity 1 to any application engineered for the cloud. Being able to dynamically scale up 2 allows an organisation to take full advantage of opportunities as they present themselves 3 .
The challenge for architects, designers and engineers is to create systems which are ready when the big break arrives. Few excuses for a failure to scale remain.
