This policy applies to individuals in the Committers group, who are not in the Project Management Committee group, as listed in the Apache NiFi project.
- Committers become inactive after a period of 1 year without any qualifying activity
- Qualifying activities consist of the following publicly observable contributions:

- Reviewing a pull request in any project repository
- Submitting an issue to a project issue tracking system
- Commenting on an issue in a project issue tracking system
- Sending a message to any public project mailing list
- When a committer becomes inactive, an authorized PMC member revokes access and sends a message to the project developer mailing list announcing inactive status with links indicating lack of activity
- Within 1 year of becoming inactive, committers may email the PMC using the developer mailing list, requesting return to active status, and an authorized PMC member will restore access as requested
- Committers become emeritus after a period of 1 year following inactive status, which is 2 years without any qualifying activity
- Committers with emeritus status require renomination and PMC vote to return to active status
