In order to promote consistency in our writing across documentation, help, website and blog, the following practices are recommended:

  • 32-bit and 64-bit, with a hyphen, not 32bit or 64bit.
  • Mac OS® not MacOS
  • Open Document Format or ODF, not OpenDocument Format or OpenDocument and especially not OpenDoc
  • OpenOffice not Open Office.  In formal contexts, and in its first occurrence in a document, it should be referred to as Apache OpenOffice® with the raised ®trademark symbol which is Unicode U+00AE or HTML ® or ®
