The SpamAssassin new logo contest
Announcement
After TheASF changed its logo, we think the SpamAssassin project needs a new logo as well. You are invited to offer up your ideas.
- Submitting your idea...
- Submissions: If you have an idea to submit, please go to NewLogoContestEntries and append it to the bottom of the page,
if you do not have a Confluence account you can also register to https://newlogo.spamassassin.org and upload your proposal on the dedicated area. - The contest was originally open until 31 Oct 2025, but has been left open indefinitely to encourage more submissions.
- Entries are accepted from everyone, and you can submit as many entries as you like.
- Submissions: If you have an idea to submit, please go to NewLogoContestEntries and append it to the bottom of the page,
- Selecting the winner...
- The community is invited to offer discussion/comments/feedback/etc...
- Everyone can vote, but the SpamAssassin PMC will choose the winner
Requirements
- Submitters should...
- Provide a main logo, for the website front page. The current logo is 421 pixels wide by 160 high, so something in that rough ballpark would be good.
- Be prepared to provide a high-res, printable version of that logo; at least 1000x380. We'll need the source; either SVG for vector images, or XCF or PSD or for pixel images (PNG if really unavoidable), a scalable vector format is optimal as the source format.
- (optional) a smaller button-style logo for sites running SpamAssassin ("Powered by SpamAssassin" is suggested as the text or theme), about 90x30.
- the winner would have to be happy to assign rights to the image over to the ASF so it can be used freely by SpamAssassin, permission given to use it in books, on merchandise, etc. Authorship, however, is preserved – and we will credit the designer in the CREDITS file in the distribution and on the website. (This is performed using the ASF's Contributor's License Agreement; see http://www.apache.org/licenses/ for details.)
- Design themes...
- (optional) incorporation of the Apache Oak logo is something to consider (see Press Kit), but we don't want to restrict people artistically, so do as you will.
- we want something that feels right for the project, hint: no death or bloody images.
- You can also get inspiration from the current logo (https://www.apache.org/logos/#spamassassin), current logo can be used freely (consider them under the same license as SpamAssassin itself).

Contributors must have accounts for this instance of Confluence OR for the dedicated NextCloud instance at https://newlogo.spamassasin.org to submit logos. Accounts on either system require approval from a PMC member. You DO NOT need a Confluence or NextCloud account to use or contribute to SpamAssassin. We DO NOT use Confluence for anything other than the SpamAssassin wiki, so you should not request a Confluence account solely to submit logo candidates: a NextCloud account is entirely sufficient.
