Incubating projects (“podlings”) follow a different reporting process than TLPs, because they are still under the guidance of the Apache Incubator PMC (IPMC).

• Schedule: Podlings report monthly for their first three months, then quarterly thereafter. The Incubator PMC maintains the reporting calendar.
• Audience: Podling reports are submitted to the Incubator PMC, not directly to the ASF Board. The IPMC aggregates podling reports into its own quarterly board report.
• Responsibility: Podling reports are drafted by the PPMC (Podling Project Management Committee) with help from mentors. Mentors are expected to review and sign off.
• Format: Podling reports follow a similar structure to TLP reports (project status, releases, community health, issues). They should also explicitly mention:
  • Progress towards graduation, e.g., community growth, release maturity.
  • Mentor engagement. Whether mentors are actively reviewing, signing off, and supporting the podling.  
  • Branding and trademark status. Whether the podling and 3rd parties are using correct Apache project branding and handling trademarks appropriately.
