Instructions

In the following tables we're tracking the performance of common search queries, to see how well our website ranks for them.  This give an indication of where are website is helping users find the information they need, and where we are doing poorly.

We repeat the queries in different languages and in different versions of Google, to ensure that we are not getting poor performance due to missing translations.

Notes: 

  1. If you are using iGoogle or another Google service that personalizes your search results, please sign out first.  We want to track the results that normal Google returns.
  2. For each query, put the URL of the 1st openoffice.org or apache.org URL that appears in the search results, along with its rank. 
  3. Translate the query into the appropriate language where that would be normal for a native speaker.
  4. Ignore the sponsored search results, the ones with a shaded background.  We want only the "organic" search results.  So if the openoffice.org page is preceded by two sponsored ads, but we're the 1st organic listing, then count that as rank == 1, not 3.
  5. If no openoffice.org website is on the first page, there is no need to waste time finding it. Users certainly won't.  Just put the rank as  ">10"
