This page contains a record of components or features that have been part of OFBiz but are now removed. The information in this page should help to get the original source code from svn history.
If you need a component or features, you will be able to get them easily since they will still be archived in the repository.
For those who are not Subversion power users: even after being removed at some revision, a directory or a file is still in the repository. So you can get it if you update to a revision before the removing.
iDEAL (3rd party fintech integration)
Removed with rev. 1846229, 1846227 on 2018-11-09
This integration was removed from OFBiz for following reasons:
- the code was experimental and not really used by any OFBiz adopter
- the code had no active maintainer

Webslinger
Removed with rev. 1301866, 1302102, 1308359 in date 2012-03-17
Description:
You can find information about Webslinger here: http://www.webslinger.org
The Webslinger component was removed from OFBiz for the following reasons:
- no active committer was maintaining the webslinger component
- the component was experimental and not really used by OFBiz
- the component was really big (lot of jars etc...) and we are trying to slim down the OFBiz framework and keep only the essential/useful features
- this fixes a security issue
The only Webslinger featurOFBIZ-13445e used by the OFBiz framework was the "service debug mode" (enabled by default with the property servicedispatcher.servicedebugmode): it relied on Webslinger legacy code (in the org.webslinger.invoker.* package) that was never contributed as a source file to the OFBiz project; the source files for Webslinger don't seem to be publicly available: http://www.webslinger.org/Downloads
the svn resources mentioned there are broken. The fact that the OFBiz frameework was dependent (for a feature useful only in development mode) on an external project that doesn't publish its source code (at least in an easy to find location) convinced me that it was better to clean up the dependency completely; on the bright side OFBiz should now use less memory.
Worflow
Removed with rev. 1381884 the 2012-09-07
Description:
This was an initial implementation of a workflow in OFBiz. It was the base used by the Shark team to create the Shark workflow.
The Worflow component was removed from OFBiz for the following reasons:
- No active committer was maintaining this component
- It was no longer used in OFBiz
- It has been somehow superceded by the ECAs mechanism
Shark
Removed with rev. 1343064, 1343065 the 2012-05-27
First release(s) without the feature: NA
Description:
You can find information about Shark here
The Shark component was removed from OFBiz for the following reasons:
- No active committer was maintaining this component
- It was no longer used in OFBiz
- It seems to have finally turned in to a commercial product
Seleniumxml
Removed with rev.1354380 the 2012-06-27
Description:
Seleniumxml was a subcomponent of the framework/testtools intended to facilitate the usage of Selenium tests in OFBiz.
However it was never upgraded to the new version of Selenium and it has not been widely adopted by the community; the OFBiz community agreed to remove components/tools like this from the core distribution if they are optional/very specific or not well maintained or if there is (as in the case of Selenium) a valid external alternative to perform the same actions.
Minerva and XAPool
Removed with r1356471 the 2012-07-02 (+r1356688 the 2012-07-03, r1360902 the 2012-07-12 and r1482796 the 2013-05-15 for trivial stuff forgotten)
Description:
Minerva and XAPool were data base connections managers included in OFBiz but not used OOTB for years. XAPool was LGPL licensed hence could not be used in OFBiz since the project joined the ASF. Minerva was used as data base connections manager before being replaced by Apache DBCP around Summer 2007. The Minerva sources were patched/fixed by the OFBiz project because of some issues. But nobody knows where they are (if they still exist).
Debian
Removed with rev. 1409880 the 2012-11-15
Description:
A set of tools for the distribution and deployment of OFBiz to Debian systems.
GroovyShell
Removed with rev. 1465254
Description:
GroovyShellContainer was working as a telnet server to provide a shell for the execution of Groovy commands; itwas disabled by default for security reasons; it has been removed because it was based on some code distributed with unclear license terms.
Crowd
Removed with rev. 1580778
Description:
After r1465250 the crowd component was disabled and after r1465252 unusable (no Axis 1 lib accessible). It was not actively maintained, based on an old version of Crowd and required some old jars (Axis 1) removed from the framework (which runs on "Axis 2").
WFS handlers
Removed with rev. 1616446
Description:
Incomplete, unmaintained and unused support for WFS. This code had also a series of issues: low level calls to Freemarker components that may change with newer versions of Freemarker, references to hotwaxmedia, wrong location for ftl files.
JSP Regions
Removed with rev. 1621971
Description:
Old and no more used support for JSP Regions.
Custom OFBiz JSP taglib
Removed with rev. 1621979
Description:
Old and no more used custom JSP taglib.
JPublish
Removed with rev. 1622010
Description:

DataVision
Removed with rev. 1622979
Description:
Old, not maintained and never really used integration with the DataVision reporting engine.
Velocity
Removed with rev. 1622980 and 1622982
Description:
Old, not maintained and never really used integration with the Apache Velocity template engine.
SQL
Removed with rev. 1644469
Description:
framework/sql was an attempt to create a specialized SQL parser for the OFBiz entity engine. The idea was to use a standardized SQL string that the parser would convert to entity conditions and Delegator calls. So, you could use the same SQL string on any database. The component was never finished.

Removed with rev. 1763454
Description:
It was removed because it had never attracted much attention and because of the tricky license of the XML schema files under specialpurpose/oagis/dtd/. These files are part of an old and unmaintained version of OAGIS and we could not upgrade them because since their inclusion in OFBiz the newer versions have been re-licensed under an incompatible license.

ij.script and derbytools-10.8.2.2.jar.
Removed at revision: 1338173 the 2012-05-14. Reasons for this:
- no active committer was maintaining it
- it's maintained by the Derby project, see http://db.apache.org/derby/docs/dev/tools/ for details
ScreenWidgetViewHandler class and related

Ability to persist cache entries in the file system
Removed at revision: 1751817 the 2016-07-07. Reasons for the removal:
This feature has been contributed a long time ago as an experimental feature but never really matured into a production ready artifact: since it was contributed, no users asked about how to use it, or tested it, or reported bugs or enhancement requests.
More importantly, the feature has always been disabled in the OFBiz framework (i.e. the widget code and the entity engine code were not using it).
The most compelling reason for its removal is that the feature was based on a snapshot, unreleased version of JDBM, which is now a mostly dead project: for licensing reasons we are no more allowed to bundle jars in our releases. Additionally, having code that relies an old jar from a no more active project represents a maintenance issue for the community.
Old icons
Removed at revision: 1753774 the 2016-07-22. Reasons for the removal:
This is certainly not a major issue but I saw no reasons to keep these old unused images. Done at OFBIZ-7919 - Getting issue details... STATUS
Solr
Removed on revision : 93effa4ae8cc16c56c9cf585033208afc3100264 the 2025-04-09. Reasons for the removal:
The jakarta migration was blocked by solr because the available solr version didn't support it. So we remove it to use it as standalone. You can have more information and how migrate on OFBIZ-13220 - Getting issue details... STATUS and wiki page How to Migrate from Embedded Solr to Standalone Solr
3rd Party Shipping Integrations
Removed on revision : 15e1e4213f0b95f0fe9d4ce6abaac0e1e0f18c87 (framework) the 2026-06-12, 371d00ba250e1b58a72a5771739698d6bbaff3cf (framework), 672b6d02e6776ad5875d1a7b95c7e4764a73e3e0 (framework) and 52a9baa1b3c11dcacd010ad0c24909809919a9e6 (plugins) the 2026-06-26. Reasons for the removal:
The shipping integrations for UPS, USPS, FedEx, and DHL all use deprecated SOAP/XML APIs, even though these carriers have already moved to modern REST APIs.
- UPS has officially deprecated the legacy access key and legacy SOAP/XML API in favour of RESTful API OAuth 2.0 security protocols. (https://developer.ups.com/oauth-developer-guide)
- FedEx is completely retiring FedEx Web Services (SOAP/XML APIs) by June 1, 2026. (https://developer.fedex.com/wirc/browser/#/en-us/guides/migrate)
- USPS retired the Web Tools API on January 25, 2026. (https://www.usps.com/business/web-tools-apis/)
- DHL integration uses the legacy DHL ShipIT XML API which is obsolete and has been superseded by the modern DHL Express REST API.

Removed WebPos plugin
Removed on revision : d2c887beca87a4c8ea8eaea6ffb5193a413b45fd the 2026-06-26. Reasons for the removal:
The current WebPOS implementation appears to be based on an architectural approach that is no longer aligned with modern POS development practices. Instead of continuing to maintain WebPOS, the community could focus on strengthening API capabilities and integration patterns, enabling developers to build modern POS applications using the frontend technology of their choice.
Some observations:
- Modern POS solutions are increasingly built as mobile applications, PWAs, or API-driven frontends.
- OFBiz already provides backend capabilities such as catalog management, pricing, inventory, order management, and accounting, which can be exposed through APIs.
- Maintaining a dedicated POS frontend within OFBiz may not provide significant value compared to allowing specialized frontend applications to consume OFBiz services.
- Modern POS requirements often include offline capabilities, mobile device support, hardware integrations, and rich user experiences that are difficult to achieve within the current WebPOS architecture.
- There are many mature frontend technologies available today (React, Vue, Flutter, React Native, Ionic, etc.) that can be used to build POS applications on top of OFBiz APIs.
- The plugin appears to have limited community activity and maintenance compared to other areas of OFBiz.

3rd Party Payment Integrations
Removed on revision : d278d49b930d450f965433407d1c4dd4eb54d00f (framework) and 9153cab41ba2cf5b67fcc188afc55352fea52844 (plugins) the 2026-06-26. Reasons for the removal:
Following payment gateway integrations from applications/accounting/ whose third-party APIs and SDKs are no longer operational, deprecated, and haven't been maintained for a while:
- PCCharge & RITA (GO Software / Verifone): Verifone announced end-of-life in April 2015; all support terminated on October 1, 2015. Both communicate over raw TCP/IP sockets to a local Windows daemon with no cloud successor.
Ref: https://3dmerchant.com/blog/merchant-processing-industry-news/pccharge-life-notice-verifone - ClearCommerce: Acquired by FIS. Implemented back in 2006 and never really maintained. The original platform and its test endpoint are no longer reachable.
- Orbital (Chase Paymentech / Fiserv): Deprecated; no new onboarding available. The proprietary SDK is no longer distributed and the integration is already excluded from standard compilation.
- Payflow Pro (PayPal): Officially labeled "legacy" by PayPal. ACH closed May 2021, 3DS v1.x deprecated October 2022. The SDK (paypal.payflow.PayflowAPI) is unavailable in any public repository and excluded from compilation.
- PayPal NVP / Classic API: Officially labeled "legacy". All dependent resources (Orders v1, Payments v1, Billing Agreements, etc.) are formally deprecated by PayPal. The SDK (com.paypal.sdk.core.nvp.*) is unavailable publicly and excluded from compilation.Ref: https://developer.paypal.com/api/rest/deprecated-resources/
Ref: https://developer.paypal.com/api/nvp-soap/ - WorldPay: The specific product this integration targets, WorldPay Select Junior, is absent from Worldpay's current developer documentation entirely. The integration uses a redirect-based flow (instId parameter, select.worldpay.com) with no equivalent in the current Access Worldpay REST API.
Ref: https://developer.worldpay.com
- SecurePay (Australia): The integration uses the proprietary securepay.jxa Java SDK targeting https://api.securepay.com.au/xmlapi/payment, which has no public repository or Maven artifact. SecurePay has been acquired by Fat Zebra, whose platform is built on REST APIs with no equivalent to this XML-based integration. The integration is already excluded from standard compilation in build.gradle due to the missing SDK.Ref: https://www.fatzebra.com/blog/fat-zebra-acquires-securepay
- eWay (Australia): The integration targets hardcoded legacy .asp XML endpoints (https://www.eway.com.au/gateway/xmlpayment.asp, gateway_cvn/xmlpayment.asp) from eWAY's original gateway circa 2003. eWAY has fully replaced this with the Rapid API (REST/JSON). NetSuite has officially retired the eWAY XML gateway integration.Ref: https://docs.oracle.com/en/cloud/saas/netsuite/ns-online-help/section_1492528191.html
Ref: https://eway.io/api-v3/
- SagePay (now Elavon/Opayo): The integration targets SagePay's VPS Protocol v3.00, communicating with *.sagepay.com endpoints. SagePay was sold to Elavon in 2020 and rebranded as Opayo. Protocol v3.00 has since been mandated for removal in favour of v4.00, and all legacy sagepay.com URLs (live.sagepay.com, test.sagepay.com) stopped working after March 31, 2024.
- CyberSource ICS (Simple Order API / SOAP): The integration uses the com.cybersource.ws.client SOAP SDK targeting API version 1.43. CyberSource has mandated migration away from the Simple Order API to its REST API, stating that users "must migrate" to REST-based services. Additionally, the SOAP API's current username/password authentication will be rejected after June 24, 2026, with no path to continue using the Simple Order API beyond that point without a full re-implementation. The integration is already excluded from standard compilation in build.gradle due to the missing SDK JAR.Ref: https://developer.cybersource.com/docs/cybs/en-us/rb-upgrade/migration/all/na/recurring-billing-upgrade/rb-upgrade-actions/rb-upgrade-updating/rb-upgrade-apis.html
Ref: https://developer.cybersource.com/docs/cybs/en-us/so-p12/migration/all/so/so-p12/so-p12-intro.html - Authorize.Net AIM: The integration posts to transact.dll using Name-Value Pair (NVP) fields prefixed with x_ — the exact pattern Authorize.net has deprecated. AIM is officially labeled "Deprecated" and will no longer receive updates including payment network mandate compliance updates.Ref: https://developer.authorize.net/api/upgrade_guide.html

3rd Party Tax Integrations
Removed on revision : a07c838c9934ad2b221360a152b12de24527a82e the 2026-06-26. Reasons for the removal:
OFBiz shipped with two third-party tax integrations — Taxware and ZIPsales™ — both of which can no longer function as the commercial products they depend on have been discontinued.
The Taxware Universal Tax Link integration requires a native library that is no longer available, making it non-operational at runtime.
The ZIPsales™ integration depends on periodic data files supplied by CCH (Commerce Clearing House). CCH no longer distributes ZIPsales™ as a standalone product, making it impossible to obtain the data the integration needs to operate.
Both integrations have been effectively inactive since 2013 and are disabled by default.
