2013-10-28 Apache Knox Gateway (Incubator) 0.3.0 Released
The Apache Knox community is proud to announce the release of the Apache Knox Gateway (Incubator) 0.3.0
The Apache Knox Gateway is a REST API Gateway for Hadoop with a focus on enterprise security integration.
The Apache Knox Gateway provides a simple and extensible model for securing access to many of the Hadoop core and ecosystem REST APIs.
This includes pluggable authentication to LDAP and trusted identity providers as well as simple service level authorization and more.
The functionality in this release makes the Apache Knox Gateway an ideal perimeter security solution for your Hadoop REST API access.
The highlights for the 0.3.0 release are:
o Secure Hadoop cluster (i.e. Kerberos) integration
o HBase integration (non-Kerberos)
o Hive JDBC integration (non-Kerberos)
o Simple ACL based Service Level Authorization

The Apache Knox Gateway is an effort undergoing incubation at the Apache Software Foundation (ASF), sponsored by the Apache Incubator PMC.
Incubation is required of all newly accepted projects until a further review indicates that the infrastructure, communications, and decision making process have stabilized in a manner consistent with other successful ASF projects.
While incubation status is not necessarily a reflection of the completeness or stability of the code, it does indicate that the project has yet to be fully endorsed by the ASF.
