Below replace X with the major version and remove all hints surrounded by <> blocks. Add the relavent release specific information and run the result by the PRC for announcement approval.

Please format this template according to the requirements of each announcement destination. Different destinations and syndications have different requirements for formatting announcements.

As announcement requirements evolve from PRC feedback please make changes to this template so we are in synch with ASF wide policies. Also feel free to adapt this template to other Directory project releases since this template is geared towards Apache Directory Server releases. It would be nice if we had a template for each Directory project release announcement type.

Thank you for helping us spread the word about Apache Directory Project releases!

                       ApacheDS X.0 Press Release

The Apache Directory team is pleased to announce the release of ApacheDS X.0,
a pure-Java LDAP server and more. Our primary vision is to build an enterprise
directory server platform and its components where other Internet services snap
in to store their data within the directory so they may be managed using LDAP.
Those services include LDAP itself, DNS, DHCP, Change Password and Kerberos.

ApacheDS X.0 is a significant release in several respects.
<fill in X.0 high level release merits here in this paragraph>

Most importantly it has been certified by the Open Group as a compliant LDAPv3
server. Thanks to the gracious contributions of the Open Group, the Apache
Directory Team was able to freely certify ApacheDS. As of now, only 3 LDAP
servers, of which ApacheDS is one, have passed the latest version of the
compliance test suite provided by the Open Group.
