How to

...

Contribute

ANYONE Anyone is welcome to contribute to marketing efforts for Apache CloudStack. You do not have to be a committer or PMC member. You certainly don't have to be a developer, but if you are, that's great. You don't need to be a marketing expert. You just have to be interested in CloudStack and willing to help promote it.

Marketing efforts are discussed on the cloudstack-marketing@incubatormarketing@cloudstack.apache.org list (to subscribe, email cloudstack-marketing-subscribe@incubatorsubscribe@cloudstack.apache.org).

Release Announcements

Release announcements for major (e.g. 4.0.0-incubating) and minor (e.g. 4.0.1-incubating) releases need to be drafted on the -dev or (future) -marketing mailing list and be approved by lazy consensus.

Release announcements

...

are on the marketing announcement page.

  • A release draft needs to be sent to -dev and -marketing (if created) at least one week before the approval is needed/release is issued.
  • A release draft also needs to be approved by press@apache.org, again at least one week before approval is needed.
  • Release announcements need indicate that the disclaimer that CloudStack is an incubating project (at least so long as it is) and include the date the project entered the Incubator. (e.g. "The project entered the Apache Incubator in April 2012" or similar.) See the Apache Incubator branding guide for full details, but the text of the disclaimer is below:

Apache CloudStack is an effort undergoing incubation at The Apache Software Foundation (ASF). Incubation is required of all newly accepted projects until a further review indicates that the infrastructure, communications, and decision making process have stabilized in a manner consistent with other successful ASF projects. While incubation status is not necessarily a reflection of the completeness or stability of the code, it does indicate that the project has yet to be fully endorsed by the ASF.
